Now here’s something that we’re not likely to see on the road in my parts anytime soon: BMW‘s new 2013 police cars and armored sedans. Around here, you’re more likely to see a Dodge Charger, Ford Crown Victoria and other oversized behemoths. Different mentality, I guess. Of course, when you consider what the requirement are to get a drivers license between Germany, France and the UK, compared to just about anywhere in North America, you understand why the Germans need high-quality, superior cop cars. The odds are that the bad guys know how to drive!
In the picture above you can see the new BMW X3 and 5 Series Touring vehicles, in police livery (don’t you think that Polizei sounds intimidating? I think cop cars should all have it, even where they don’t speak German!) Because BMW cars offer such a high level of performance right out of the box – so to speak – there’s not much to do to turn them in police cars than slapping on some decals and flashing light.
Now feast your eyes on this beautiful beast, the 2013 BMW 7-Series High Security. You wouldn’t know it just from looking at it – and that’s the idea – but this is a serious armored car!
This BMW is VR7-certified, which means it can withstand pretty much everything short of heavy weapons. Not bad; now you can be both safe AND stylish! Of course, performance always suffers on cars like this, mainly because of all the extra weight.
